Use

You are installing or updating a component group, installation profile or individual database software components.

The procedure that follows should only be used for updates if you wish to update components for which the software is not stored in the <dependent_path> of the MaxDB installation or if the software installation you want to update is not used by any database instances.

Caution

If you want to update components for which the software is stored in the <dependent_path> of the MaxDB installation and whose database instances use this software installation, you have to upgrade these database instances along with the software (see: Upgrading Database Instances and Their Server Software). Otherwise, you risk rendering the database instances incompatible with database software, and you may not be able to start them again.

The system logs the installation process.
