In the Space user menu of the DBA Cockpit, you can find, among other things, comprehensive display and administration options for the log area.
Open the DBA Cockpit (transaction DBACOCKPIT) and select .
Caution
For SAP NetWeaver 7.1, this status information is displayed in the Log Area menu, which is different from the menu described below.
The display contains the following information and administration options:
Display / Information on the log area
Occupiable Area, Occupied Area (Actually Occupied Space in Log Area), Free Area
Unsaved Log Area
Log Segment Size
Last Log I/O Sequence Number
Mirroring the Log Area, Automatic Overwrite of the Log Area, Redo Log Management, Automatic Log Backups
Configuration of log volumes
Total size of the log area in the unit of measurement that you specified and other configuration information
Show/hide log volumes
You can show or hide the following displays and change options for the log volumes:
Display of log volumes (size, type, device/path and file name, log partition, occupation and access information and so on)
Add or change log volumes
Select Add/Change Volume and enter the required information where prompted. Creating a new volume might take some time, as the new volume has to be formatted

If more than 60 % of the log area is used, you should back up the log segments to release space for other transactions. You can automate this process by Activating Automatic Log Backups.
