Procedure documentation Connecting to a Backint for MaxDB Interface Locate the document in the library structure

Use

External backup tools that have their own Backint for MaxDB interface are still being developed. The requirements that need to be met by this interface are documented in Structure linkBackint for MaxDB.

The section Connecting to a Backint for Oracle Interface describes the use of a Backint for MaxDB implementation by using an adapter program. This implementation uses a program that was developed by SAP and is delivered with the MaxDB software package. This program is intended for connecting to Backint for Oracle. The configuration file that has to be created, however, corresponds to the configuration file that would have to be created for an external backup tool with its own Backint for MaxDB interface if the requirements in the documentation Backint for MaxDB are met by the vendor.

Prerequisites

The version of your MaxDB database system supports the connection of a Backint for MaxDB interface (see: Restrictions for Using Backint for MaxDB).

Procedure

To connect to a Backint for MaxDB interface, perform the following steps:

...

       1.      Create the configuration file for Backint for MaxDB, case 2.

       2.      Export the environment variables of the external backup tool if this is required by the vendor of the external backup tool.

       3.      Set the environment variable BSI_ENV for the Database Manager.

       4.      If necessary, set non-tool-specific environment variables for the Database Manager.
