Background documentation Setting Non-Tool-Specific Environment Variables for the Database Manager Locate the document in the library structure

Use

To enable the Database Manager to access the variables it needs on the database computer, or to force the Database Manager to export environment variables before it calls an external backup tool, you must use the Database Manager CLI  to specify these environment variables explicitly.

You can set these environment variables for each external backup tool. The values you define here override any values defined for these variables in the environment or in the configuration file of the external backup tool.

¡        If you want to override the environment variable TEMP or TMP, proceed as described in Setting TEMP or TMP.

¡        If you want to define timeouts for external backup tools from third-party vendors, proceed as described under Setting DBM_TTO_SUCCESS and DBM_TTO_FAILURE.

In this way, you can define how long the external backup waits until it exits after all data has been copied to the pipe(s), or how long it waits until it terminates the backup if an error occurs.

Use the same procedure for Backint for MaxDB if you want to override the values defined  for TIMEOUT_SUCCESS and/or TIMEOUT_FAILURE in the configuration file.
