You create a snapshot to save the current state of the data area in the database. For example, you can use a snapshot when working on a training computer to quickly restore the database to its original state after training has finished and without backing up the data.
Caution
A snapshot is not a data backup. The system saves the snapshot on the same hard disk as your data area. To be able to restore your data after a hardware error, you have to back up data and logs regularly.
