You create a snapshot to save the current state of the data area in the database. For example, you can use a snapshot when working on a training computer to quickly restore the database to its original state after training has finished and without backing up the data.

Caution Caution

A snapshot is not a data backup. The system saves the snapshot on the same hard disk as your data area. To be able to restore your data after a hardware error, you have to back up data and logs regularly.

Prerequisites

  • You are logged on to the database as the database system administrator or as a DBM operator.

  • The database is in the ONLINE or ADMIN operational state.

Procedure

  1. In the context menu of the database, choose Administration.

  2. Open the Snapshots tab page.

  3. Choose Create...
