There is a multilevel authorization concept for the administration of an SAP liveCache database. Authorizations are granted to an SAP user by assigning the user a role determined by the actions that this user should perform.
The following roles are preconfigured in the database software supplied:
The system administrator can assign a corresponding role to the SAP users that are to monitor and administer the SAP liveCache database, or create new users with these roles. However, this is only possible when a profile has been assigned to a role.
Each of the roles provides a user menu that contains the DBA functions that are to be regularly used by the relevant SAP user to perform the DBA actions. Many DBA functions are integral parts of the DBA Cockpit and can therefore be called via the DBA Cockpit.
DBA Function |
Tool / DBA Action |
---|---|
DBA Planning Calendar |
You can use the DBA Planning Calendar to manage backups and monitoring and analyzing activities. |
MaxDB/liveCache System Overview |
In complex system landscapes, access database administration functions using the MaxDB/liveCache System Overview transaction. |
liveCache Assistant |
You can monitor your SAP liveCache database instance with the liveCache Assistant. |
CCMS Monitoring |
Among many other displays, the CCMS Monitoring also includes the liveCache Alert Monitor, which displays critical information about memory, security and performance as alerts. |
Proceed as follows to assign a profile to a role:
Call Role Maintenance (transaction PFCG).
Enter the name of the role and display it.
Choose Authorizations.
Switch to change mode.
Choose Change Authorization Data.
Choose Generate and confirm the profile name.
For more information, see Application Help for role maintenance in Users and Roles.
The system administrator can now assign a corresponding role to the SAP users that are to monitor and administer the SAP liveCache database, or create new users with these roles.
