When you create a database, you define a database parameter file.
You can use the system default for the parameter file and then adjust the values to fit your requirements.
You can also use the parameter file from another database. If you want to do this, you can either use a copy of the parameter file from a database on the same computer or copy the parameter file from a complete data backup of another database.
We recommend that you use a copy of the parameter file of an existing database if, for example, you are planning to import the data from this database into the new one, for example if you want to copy the database or set up a standby database, at a later time. This ensures that the data can be imported without problems and that the database with the database copy or the standby database behaves exactly like the source database.
You also can create the new database using a copy of the parameter file of the source database and change the respective values if you want the new database only to consume fewer resources.
