You group the tables to be synchronized in logical replication units. You have to define at least one master replication unit for the master database instance and one client replication unit per client database instance.
● You have designed a data model.
● You have defined replication tables in the master instance.
● You have started the Synchronization Manager GUI.
● You are logged on to the master database instance as a synchronization user.
...
1. You are on the Replication Units tab page.
To define a master replication unit, choose Replication Units ® Add Master Unit..
Enter the following information:
Screen Field |
Value |
Unit Name |
Name of the master replication unit |
Unit Type |
Type of the master replication unit |
2. To add replication tables, select the replication unit.
Choose Replication Units ® Add Table...
Choose the schema to which the replication tables belong.
Select the desired tables.
3. You can also exclude columns and column groups from the synchronization.
To exclude a column or column group, select the replication table under the Tables node.
In the Column Filter for Replication area, deselect the column or column group.
Perform the following steps for all client database instances that are to be involved in the synchronization.
...
1. You are on the Replication Units tab page.
To define a client replication unit, select the master replication you want the client replication unit to belong to.
Choose Replication Units ® Add Client Unit...
Enter the following information:
Screen Field |
Value |
Unit Name |
Name of the client replication unit |
Host |
Computer on which the client database instance is located |
Database |
Name of the client database instance |
User |
Name of the synchronization user of the client database instance |
Password |
Password of the synchronization user |
Save Password |
Specifies whether the Synchronization Manager should save the password The Synchronization Manager saves the password in plain text. |
Unit Type |
Type of the client replication unit |
2. You can also edit the synchronization properties of the client tables. This is necessary if, for example, a table in the client instance has a different name than in the master instance, or if you want to define a filter.
To edit the synchronization properties of a single client table, select that table in the Participant Tables area.
a. In the Participant Tables area, select the desired client table.
b. Choose Edit Table.
c. Edit the synchronization properties of the client table.
Screen Field |
Value |
Table Schema |
Name of the schema that the client table in the client instance belongs to. |
Table Name |
Name of the client table in the client instance |
Master Column |
Name of the column in the replication table in the master instance |
Column Name |
Column name in the client table in the client instance |
Constraint Type |
Type of filter condition |
Constraint Value1 Constraint Value2 |

To change the synchronization properties of multiple client tables simultaneously, select those client tables in the Participant Tables area.
...
a. Choose Set Schema.
b. Specify the schema that the client tables in the client instance belong to.
You have defined replication units.
To use these replication units for synchronization, you have to activate them (see Activating and Deactivating Replication Units).
