Backup File
You can back up data as well as log entries on data carriers of the File type. Such files are also known as backup files.
With log backups to a data carrier of the File type, the system backs up each log segment of the log area to a backup file.
The name of the backup files consists of a file name (specified when the backup template was defined) and a sequential number assigned by the database system (for example, logfile.001).
We recommend that you archive these backup files regularly.
