All steps involved in installing or updating the database software as well as in upgrading databases and their software are saved in log files. The name of the log file indicates the SAP MaxDB or SAP liveCache technology product name.

Location of Log Files for Installations/Updates
  • UNIX/Linux (tgz package):

    <independent_data_path>/wrk/MAXDB<profile>_install-<date>-<time>.log

    or

    <independent_data_path>/wrk/SAPliveCache<profile>_install-<date>-<time>.log

  • Microsoft Windows:

    <independent_data_path>\wrk\MAXDB<profile>_install-<date>-<time>.log

    or

    <independent_data_path>\wrk\SAPliveCache<profile>_install-<date>-<time>.log

If the <independent_data_path> directory is not yet known by the system when the installation process crashes, the log file will be created in the directory the installation program was started in.

Note Note

If you have installed/updated individual software components, the log can be found in the file MAXDBSoftware_install-<date>-<time>.log

or

SAPliveCacheSoftware_install-<date>-<time>.log

End of the note.
