If you make a system copy, you duplicate an SAP system. You re-install all instances of the SAP system, but create the target database as a copy of the source database (database copy). Some settings in the target system may be different from those in the source system.
You can create the following types of system copies:
· Homogenous system copy
The target system runs on the same operating system and with the same database system as the source system.
· Heterogeneous system copy
The target system runs on a different operating system or with a different database system than the source system.
To create a system copy, you need a database copy, amongst other things.
