Procedure documentation Logging on to a Database Instance Locate the document in the library structure

Use

You log on to a database instance. This opens a database session.

Prerequisites

     You have called Web SQL Studio.

     The database instance is in the ONLINE operational state.

Note

If the database instance is not in the ONLINE operational state, use the Database Manager to start the database instance. See:

Procedure

       1.      Enter the following data.

Data for Logging On to the Database Instance

Name

Description

Server Name

Name of the database computer

Note

You can leave this field empty if the database instance is located on the local computer.

Database Name

Name of database instance

User Name

Name of the database user

Password

Password of the database user

Caution

The database system converts all letters to uppercase. To enter lowercase letters and special characters, enclose your entry in quotation marks.

       2.      Optional: To change the properties of the database session, choose Extended. Change the properties you wish to change.

       3.      Choose Logon.

Result

You have opened a database session. The main page of Web SQL Studio is displayed (see Screen Areas in Web SQL Studio).
