Database applications, such as SAP systems, access MaxDB database instances via interfaces.

If the database application (and thus the MaxDB interface) is on a different computer than the database instance, the database system also needs the MaxDB X Server (communication server) for communication. The JDBC interface needs the MaxDB X Server even for local communication. See also the Structure linkX Server documentation.
